Abilene Disc Golf Association

History

For 5 years starting in 1997, Abilene's most notible tournament was the Mr. Big Putt's. A one day event held in the fall, this tournament attracted many of Texas' finest disc golfers.

In 2004, Alan Rogers brought back tournament disc golf to Abilene. He wanted to have a 2 day disc golf tournament to celebrate his birthday (June 26). So he got a "wild hair". He organized and ran the tournament. There were 54 players the first year. The next year, the locals made him do it again. The third year, they made him do it again... but this time he had some help.  It was sanctioned in 2006 and has been ever since.

2010

Thanks to EVERYONE that stepped up and helped trim trees, weed eat, paint lines, donate cash and prizes.....  the 2010 Wild Hair was the best yet!  120 players from all over Texas, including a few from Oklahoma and New Mexico...the Abilene Disc Golf Association should be proud of what it accomplished!  Look for the the 2011 edition of the Wild Hair to countinue strong.
